Our mothers were wizards and geniuses to our young eyes. They could whip up, almost from nothing, miraculous treats for the table. Daddy worked, mom stayed home raising her kids and giving us her very best. No dining out at restaurants, fast food was unheard of and we looked forward to Wednesday because that was the day mom and dad went food shopping.
At least this is one scenario. What was yours?
This 100-page book is more than a collection of recipes. Lightly lined pages on the left are for the stories you will write in longhand. Assembled in this book they become a tribute to the woman who created those dishes, almost magically and always right on time. Since snacking between meals was unheard of, when it was time to eat, we were more than ready to hear Mom say, "Soup's on."
